Sport Relief

Sport Relief was set up by Comic Relief and BBC Sport to use the power and passion of sport to tackle poverty and disadvantage, both in the UK and in some of the world's poorest countries.

Sport Relief funds work, which uses sport and exercise to strengthen communities and provide opportunities for people who are excluded or disadvantaged.

A small grants programme is available for Tower Hamlets.

The ideal application for a Sport Relief Grant would be one from a locally based community group in an area of disadvantage that really understands the needs of their community and is using sport and exercise as a means of addressing these needs. The activity must not be a one-off event, but must have an on-going impact.

Sport Relief prefers to fund community based groups that are using sport to achieve their aims rather than sports clubs that want to do an outreach project.

See the guidelines for this grant programme.
