Grassroots Grants

July 2008

St Katharine & Shadwell Trust will manage the two elements of Grassroots Grants - the Grassroots Grants small grants and the Grassroots Grants endowment match challenge - for the City of London, Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.

It is funded by the Office of the Third Sector (OTS) and administered by the Community Development Foundation (CDF).

Just over £1.3 million will be distributed in small grants over the next three years across the four boroughs.

For the Grassroots Grants endowment match challenge, OTS is offering a one-to-one match for any funds raised, up to a total of £667,117.52. Meeting this challenge means the Trust will have secured over £1.3 million of additional endowed funding by March 2011.

The Trust has teamed up with four local Councils for Voluntary Service and formed the 'East End and City Consortium' to deliver the Grassroots Grants programme across these four broughs. The consortium members are City.COMM, Hackney Council for Voluntary Service and Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium

After three years, this Consortium wants to ensure each of the Boroughs has a dedicated pot of funding for community groups that has been funded by private donations to the programme.
