Ways to Words

The Trust organised a training day for over 500 teachers in response to concerns about delivering the new literacy programme. Professor Jean Aitcheson, who had just delivered the BBC Reith lectures, was the keynote speaker, along with Charles Hazelwood and Rory Bremner. The venue was Cabot Hall in the centre of Canary Wharf and the range of speakers at many workshops included poets, writers, journalists and theatre producers.

The book, ‘Ways to Words’, resulting from this training day, was intended primarily to inform and provide cross references to other workshops and views for local teachers.
