We want our voice to be heard

Working with what was then the Public Policy Research Unit of Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, the Trust instigated a programme of consultation with young people.

The primary purpose of the consultation was to review youth work provision with a view to identifying the needs for, and the means of, delivering high quality opportunities for young people in Shadwell and Wapping, including through detached work.

The 18-page report records the views of local youth at a time of inter-racial tensions and provides a unique view of what they wanted for themselves and their community. The paper has proved stimulating, useful for the voluntary sector, and influential for local government.
