Guidelines
• Education and training for children and adults;
• Training and development of voluntary organisations to encourage self-help;
• Activities for the elderly;
• Activities that bring together different sections of the community and promote harmony.
Education and training is a huge area so preference is given to activities that improve employment prospects or the ability to participate in the life of the wider community.
The Trust considers requests ranging from contributions towards capital and revenue costs, to one-off purchases and for on-going expenditure.
How much do we give?
There is no fixed amount, grants range from a few hundred pounds to tens of thousands.
Some grants cover the full amount requested and others offer a contribution towards a total cost. St Katharine & Shadwell Trust cannot meet all the requests it receives, due to the high demand.
What not to ask for:
St Katharine & Shadwell Trust will not usually:
(a) make grants to individuals;
(b) fund travel or study outside the area;
(c) fund what should be paid for from statutory sources;
(d) fund the purchase, repair, or maintenance of buildings or vehicles;
(e) support religious groups unless they offer a service to the whole community of a non-religious nature;
(f) support projects of a political nature;
(g) fund research, other than action research studies fitting the Trust's aims;
(h) sponsor fund-raising events; or
