St Katharine & Shadwell Trust & HCVS - PC Project Launch

A new “PC Project” is being launched by Hackney Council for Voluntary Service (HCVS) in partnership with St Katharine & Shadwell Trust on Tuesday 12th February 2008 at HCVS offices.

200 PC’s were recently donated to St Katharine & Shadwell Trust by a local business. HCVS is distributing them to community and voluntary sector groups, working with refugee and asylum seekers, the homeless and children in care or young adults who have just left care living in Hackney.

Chief Officer of HVCS Jake Ferguson said “the response from groups needing this ICT equipment was overwhelming” and that the project further “highlighted the wide need for IT resources and training to help strengthen the voluntary sector in Hackney”.

Paula Graham, the East London Network (ELN) e-development worker, will be offering self-help training to groups so they can set up their new computers. Some individual volunteer support will be on offer. Free office and web software CDs with 'how-to' factsheets and information about training workshops will be handed out at the launch.
