Mark Gibson, Chief Executive of The Whitehall Industry Group which promotes better understanding between the civil service and industry, is the new Chairman of St Katharine & Shadwell Trust.

"I'm delighted to have been appointed Chairman of the Trust", says Mark. "SKST's grants go to help people in some of the most deprived areas of London and the charity's small and enthusiastic team of staff do a great job in making sure the grants are really well directed."

Mark, who joined the Trust in April 2009, is keen to get to know Tower Hamlets and its neighbouring boroughs better - "It's an area with a very diverse community which is young and optimistic despite being deprived compared to other parts of London. That youth and vibrancy makes it exciting."

Sir Robin Mountfield, Chairman of the Trust for the last 10 years, retired at the end of last year. He has made an invaluable contribution to the Trust and played a major role in the expansion and consolidation of its activities.
